50 Under 50

I came across this great post on She's a Betty - 50 summer dresses under $50!

REQUIREMENTS - Each dress must have:

1) have built-in breast support and/or ability to cover bra straps;
2) be machine-washable (hand wash = gentle cycle, line dry);
3) be fully lined or otherwise opaque;
4) not be tacky (i.e. no cheap details, no overly thin fabric, nothingtoo slutty, etc.)

AND, most importantly:
5) not cost more than $50 dollars. There are some exceptions

Oh chicas, now that's the Pulga Spirit!

My favorite is #40, above. I would wear it with red d'orsay pumps, preferably vintage, and a red belt. I don't know why, but I've been coveting that mod pinup look lately, like Teri, above, or Jessica and Carmencita, below:

Ballerina Girl

$20 at urbanoutfitters.com

Ok, normally I never buy Urban Outfitters shoes for full price (because you know they are going to be on sale in a month or two). But these are just too sweet, and the full price just so happens to be a Pulga price. Happy Day!

How cute will these look with polka dots and leggings, ala Alba? Or with some skinny jeans, like Lindsay?

Now, if you decide to get more than one pair, enter 0711urb73 at checkout for free shipping on $50 or more.

Finally, these are polyurethane, so don't forget your Summer Soles to avoid the nefarious summer STINKY FEET. Enter STYLEBYTES at checkout to get 20% off $8 a pop (Thanks Style Bytes).

Your Own Horseshoe

Remember Carrie's horseshoe necklace? The little bauble that layered perfectly with everything, or could stand on its own?

Well, my horsehoe is my
horoscope necklace, and I just noticed that they're on sale at Uncommon Goods for $20. *Try entering COMEAGAIN at checkout for 10% off (let me know if it works, I've never used it)*

P.S. If you haven't heard of
Uncomon Goods, consider bookmarking them for gift shopping. For every order you place, they donate $1 to a specially selected nonprofit.

Very Vintage

Oh man, your Pulga Diva has had some very successful thrift encounters lately.

First, I sort of went crazy at Goodwill and various thrift stores in Pulgaville last weekend. If my digital camera wasn't lost in storage somewhere, I'd post pics. In the meantime, included in my record haul were:

- Vintage navy polka-dot silk scarf ($2.5)
- Super-wide woven camel leather belt ($2)
- Assorted skinny belts with detail buckles ($2 a pop)
- High-waisted dark denim pencil skirt ($4)
- Vintage red leather flats ($4)
- Vintage spaghetti-strap nylon sundress ($2, on sale due to highly-fixable rip in seam)

Second, there have been some fabulous irresistables lately on my favorite online vintage stores. Peppermint Vintage kindly provided the perfect sandals for my strappy sundress, which is a cream color with navy and pink detail on the skirt hem that crawls up to the waist:

If I was a size 6, I'd nab these darlings (peep-toes AND twists, two of my favorite trends this summer):

$19.99 at peppermintvintage.com

Peppermint Vintage has GREAT items at Pulga prices. I hate seeing non-designer vintage items being sold at like-new prices. Unless it's incredibly unique, it's just not worth it.

BTW, check out PV's sweet little one-of-a-kind (and super figure flattering) dresses, all of which come with their own versatile vintage belts. I scored the Lucy dress. Pulga Honey luvs it.

Vintage Amore is another Pulga favorite. Check out her "Links" section for more leads on online vintage (none with deals as good as hers though!).

Cuffed Mini-Shorts

My most recent bargain hunt was for some short summer shorts that wouldn't make me look like a hooker. I mean, I live in Texas ya'll, but that whole "daisy duke" nalgas-hanging-out bit with the cowboy boots? That does not fly here, no matter what Jessica Simpson says.

When I saw Lauren Moffatt's aqua cuffed mini shorts, I knew they were the ones! Versatile color that will go with everything, from my clunky brown platform wedges, to my Tara Jarmon puffed-sleeve tees, to my obligatory nautical jailbird-striped skinny camis...

The cost? Puh-lease, since when is cost a prohibitive factor here at the Pulga?
